Living in Virtue:

We are born with a predisposition toward virtue.  And we came with 3 natural drives, to be loved and connected, to be autonomous, and to be safe (shelter, food, clothing, water).  The problem is that we are also born of parents who had their own ideas of what had to be done to achieve these things.

As parents, they went about the business of molding and shaping each of us into adults who contribute and give back to the community, work hard, and behave in righteousness.
Just as their parents did, and their parents’ parents, and so on. I look at my own family history, and without casting blame, bearing malice, dwelling, or victim-stance, I can see where all my own internal chaos came from and how trying to meet contradictory expectations that were way out of line with my true self did great harm to my soul.
It was like attempting to serve 2 masters:  One outside of me bullying me into believing I should be something I could never have been, and the other, my soul, steadfast and true.
